FlushMaps
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 21, 2026
FlushMaps ("we", "us") helps you find clean, reliable public toilets. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible and never sell your data.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we store your name and email address. Passwords are stored only as a secure, one-way hash — we never see or store your actual password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google profile (name, email, and profile picture) to create your account.
Location
With your permission, we use your device location to show toilets near you and calculate distances. You can use much of the app without granting location access, and you can revoke it at any time in your device settings.
Content you contribute
When you add a toilet, leave a rating or review, upload a photo, or report an issue, we store that content so it can appear on the map for the community. Contributed content may be visible to other users.
Notifications and visit reminders
With your permission, after you get directions to a toilet we may send you a reminder notification asking how your visit was, so you can add a quick photo and rating. To do this we store, only on your device, which toilet you headed to and when. We do not track your location in the background. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
Basic usage data
We process standard technical information (such as app version and request logs) to keep the service secure and reliable.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service — finding and displaying nearby toilets.
- To verify your account and send one-time codes for sign-up and password reset (delivered from support@flushmaps.com).
- To display and improve community-contributed sanitation data.
- To keep the platform safe, accurate, and free from abuse.
Service providers we rely on
We share limited data with trusted providers strictly to operate FlushMaps:
- Supabase — secure database hosting for your account and content.
- Brevo — delivery of transactional emails (verification and password-reset codes).
- Google — optional Google Sign-In and map/navigation links.
- Render — hosting for our application backend.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Your choices and rights
- Access & correction — view and update your profile in the app.
- Deletion — you can delete your account from within the app; we remove or anonymise your personal data accordingly.
- Location — grant or revoke location access at any time.
Data retention & security
We keep your data only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law, and we use industry-standard safeguards (encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls) to protect it.
Children
FlushMaps is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
